The Hindu, established in 1924 during the Indian independence movement, is an esteemed English-language daily newspaper.
The newspaper’s inauguration by Mahatma Gandhi added to its significance and symbolized its commitment to truth and integrity.
Today, The Hindu is owned by Shobhana Bhartia and serves as the flagship publication of HT Media, which is controlled by the KK Birla family.
With a circulation of 993,645 copies as of November 2017, The Hindu ranks among India’s largest newspapers.
It enjoys widespread popularity, particularly in North India, and has simultaneous editions in prominent cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Lucknow, Patna, Ranchi, and Chandigarh.
The Mumbai edition was launched on July 14, 2005, while the Kolkata edition came into existence in 2000. Over the years, The Hindu has gained a reputation for its unbiased reporting and balanced journalism.
